Therapeutic Botox, from your dentist

As facial and oral specialists, dentists are uniquely qualified to administer Botox for TMJ pain, migraines, jaw slimming, and cosmetic enhancement. Dr. Clark and Dr. Ervil are both ADA-certified and ready to help.

Why it matters

Why dentists are the right call for Botox

Dentists know the muscles, nerves, and anatomy of the head and neck better than almost any other healthcare provider — it's literally our specialty. That's why we're often the best choice for therapeutic Botox treatments involving the jaw, face, and mouth.

Dr. Clark and Dr. Ervil are both ADA-certified to administer therapeutic Botox and offer treatments for TMJ disorders, chronic migraines, cosmetic jaw slimming, and traditional cosmetic Botox. Treatments are 100% fee-for-service — no insurance hassle.

How we help

Our approach to botox & fillers

TMJ & Jaw Pain

Botox into the masseter and temporalis muscles can dramatically reduce TMJ pain and clenching within 1–2 weeks.

FDA-approved use of Botox for chronic migraines — many patients see significant reduction in frequency and severity.

Bruxism (Grinding)

Targeted Botox into the jaw muscles eases nighttime grinding and clenching, protecting your teeth and easing morning soreness.

FAQ

Common questions

Why would I get Botox at a dental office?
Dentists are uniquely qualified to administer Botox in the head, neck, and facial region. We complete extensive training in head and neck anatomy during dental school and residency, and we work in this area every single day — far more frequently than most other providers. For therapeutic uses like TMJ disorder, jaw clenching, bruxism, and tension-related migraines, a dentist often offers a more comprehensive perspective because we understand how your bite, jaw mechanics, and facial muscles all interact. We can also coordinate Botox with other dental treatments like night guards or occlusal therapy for the best long-term results.
How much does Botox cost?
Pricing depends on the treatment area and the number of units required. Therapeutic treatments for TMJ and jaw pain typically range from $400 to $700, while migraine and tension headache treatments range from $500 to $900. Cosmetic jaw slimming runs $300 to $600. All Botox services are fee-for-service (cash-pay) and not billed to insurance. We provide a detailed personalized quote at your initial consultation, with no surprises and no obligation. We accept all major credit cards, CareCredit, and offer flexible payment options.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe Botox injections as a quick, mild pinch — far less uncomfortable than a typical dental procedure. We use ultra-fine needles specifically designed for cosmetic and therapeutic injection, and the entire treatment is usually completed in under 30 minutes. We can apply a topical numbing cream or use ice beforehand if you're sensitive. Some areas (like around the temples or jaw muscles) are more sensitive than others, but discomfort is brief and most patients return to work or normal activities immediately after.
How long does it last?
Botox effects typically last 3 to 4 months, though this varies based on metabolism, treatment area, dosage, and your individual muscle activity. For therapeutic patients (TMJ, migraines), we recommend a recall visit around 70 days out to maintain consistent relief before symptoms return. Cosmetic patients usually return every 3–4 months. With consistent treatment over time, many patients find that the muscles weaken slightly and effects can last longer between visits. We'll build a personalized treatment schedule that works for your goals and budget.
Are there any side effects?
Botox has been FDA-approved for over 20 years and has an excellent safety record when administered by a trained provider. Most side effects are mild and temporary — typically minor bruising, slight redness, or tenderness at the injection site that resolves within a day or two. Some patients experience a mild headache for the first 24 hours. Serious side effects are extremely rare. We review your full medical history before any treatment and provide detailed aftercare instructions to minimize any risk.
Will I look frozen or unnatural?
Absolutely not — that's a common misconception. Modern Botox treatment, when done correctly, produces natural-looking results that simply soften lines and reduce muscle tension. You'll still be able to express emotions normally; you just won't have the involuntary clenching, deep furrows, or tension. For therapeutic uses like TMJ, the only thing you'll notice is relief from pain — your facial appearance is largely unchanged. We always start conservatively and can add more if needed at follow-up.
Who is not a good candidate?
Botox is not recommended for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with certain neuromuscular disorders (like myasthenia gravis or ALS), or anyone with a known allergy to botulinum toxin or its ingredients. We complete a thorough health history review at your consultation to ensure Botox is safe and appropriate for you. If it's not the right fit, we'll discuss alternative treatments that may help with your specific concerns.
How soon will I see results?
You'll typically begin to see initial results within 3 to 5 days after treatment, with full effects developing over 10 to 14 days. For therapeutic treatments like TMJ and migraines, many patients notice relief from clenching and pain within the first week. Cosmetic results — softer lines and a more relaxed appearance — also peak around the two-week mark. We schedule a follow-up around 2 weeks after your first treatment to assess results and make any adjustments.
